A few simple habits to improve productivity

Here’s A Breakdown Of Barack Obama’s Daily Routine

In an interview with Newsweek, Barack Obama outlined his daily routine as the 44th President of the United States.

It went like this:

Get Out Of Bed

Barack typically got out of bed around 7 am during his Presidency in The White House. But sometimes, it was much earlier, depending on his schedule.

Go For A Workout

“I’d wake up after five or six hours and try to squeeze in a workout at whatever facility we could find,” said Barack Obama. “The old treadmill in the back of a tanning salon was memorable.”

For Obama, a daily workout was non-negotiable. “His logic was always, ‘The rest of my time will be more productive if you give me my workout time,’” said Jim Cauley, who managed Obama’s Senate campaign.

Get Some Work Done

Barack Obama had a short commute. Approximately thirty seconds. But around 9 am, he would head to the Oval Office to begin his day as President of the United States.

Have Dinner With Family

In an interview, Obama said he always made time in his schedule to eat with family. “The two things that were most important for me were exercise in the morning and hitting the gym. And the second thing was family; having a block of time with my girls and Michelle was inviolate unless there was a genuine immediate crisis.”

“I was at dinner at 6:30 every night,” he continued. “And you know, listening to my daughters talk about their days and stupid boys and strange teachers and gossip and weird questions, that always put my mind right.”

Spend A Few Hours Preparing For Tomorrow

“For me, these were often the quietest and most productive hours of the day, a time when I could catch up on work and prepare myself for whatever was coming next, poring over the stacks of material my staff secretary sent up to the residence for my review,” wrote Barack Obama in his memoir.

Read Until Bedtime

He would spend time with his wife, Michelle each evening. “In that hour and a half, I found myself replenished — my mind cleansed and my heart cured of whatever damage a day spent pondering the world and its intractable problems may have done.”

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
