Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 9! Over the next two weeks we will have the opportunity to participate in many exciting end of year activities.

Firstly, thank you to all students and families for your flexibility last week around the changes to routine as a result of our building works.

This week there will continue to be some changes, with Yr 3-6 learning in the church and K-2 being located in the administration building.

When dropping off and picking up your children, please do so from the ANZAC garden at the front of the school.  Students will also be playing on the convent lawn (morning and recess) and enjoying the park at lunch times.

Year 5 students had the opportunity to present their Captains Speeches today following their student leadership nominations earlier this term. Following the speeches, students (K-5) and teachers undertook the voting process, with student leadership positions being announced on Thursday at our Presentation Day.

While being elected as a student leader is a great honour, it is important for students to remember that leadership can still be displayed even if they don't have a badge. This can be achieved through volunteering, being a member of the SRC or by their every day interactions with others.

This Thursday 8 December we will be holding our Annual Presentation Ceremony at Sacred Heart Church commencing at 11:30 am. Afterwards we will be enjoying light refreshments for families, visitors and students on the convent lawn. We would appreciate it if families could bring a plate of food to share. Similar to the student leadership elections, while it is an honour to receive a major award at the Presentation Day, it is not the only measure of student success.

Our Year 6 students have been invited to attend the St Francis Xavier Narrabri End of Year 6 pool party on Monday 12 December from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm. A permission note has been sent out through Compass. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to continue strengthening new friendships for the transition to secondary next year.

Semester 2 Reports will be emailed out through Compass on Monday 12 December.

Our Thanksgiving Mass will be held on Wednesday 14 at 12:30 pm. This is a great chance for the school and parish communities to meet together before the end of the year. All are welcome.

Advertising for our 2023 transition program has commenced. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program next year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms for next year's transition program are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023 , please encourage them to contact me at school.

Take care,

Kath Baird
