Foundation Students

FA - Miss Zoe

Writing has certainly taken off in Foundation! YAY! For this activity we first read the story titled ‘Your Birthday was the Best!’. Then we discussed ideas for our dream birthday cakes, before drawing our own. Once we had all our ideas sorted we wrote some sentences about our delicious cakes. Maggie and Harper are experts at giving writing a go! 

Our current focus is on capital letters, full stops and spaces between words. 

In spelling, we use our Magic Word knowledge and sound out tricky words using the ‘Stretchy Snake’ strategy. With writing starting to click into gear, you may want to encourage this with special notebooks and colourful gel pens! 

Wet day timetable

With all the wet days we’ve had it’s been a challenge to get our bodies moving and get some fresh air, but rest assured we always find a way… for everyone’s sanity! Foundies are counting to 100 star jumps in this picture! Great counting kids!

FB - Miss Deacon

In Foundation B, students have been doing a lot more independent writing! Using their 'Stretchy Snake’ strategy students are writing down the sounds that they hear in a word. Have a look at some of the awesome writing about what Foundation B students want to be when they grow up! They did such a great job that we decided to make it a display in our classroom!

The past 2 week in Foundation students have been working on addition. Students are doing such a great job at using the ’Think BIG count small’ strategy. This is where students count on from the bigger number. Below are some examples of how we have been practising addition. The shark teeth game was a hit and so was paper, scissors, rock- addition style!!

Foundation C students are working brilliantly in all areas of Literacy at the moment.

Willow was hard at work ‘renovating’ some words during our Literacy Rotations this week. I think she might have a future on The Block 😊
