Faith, Justice and Formation

Outline of Identity at St Patrick’s College

With many new families and others who may not have seen this, I commend this reading to you for a greater understanding of what Identity means at the College – liturgical life, formation, justice. This series of articles were in the Especean last year and now sit on the College website under Our IdentityIdentity-at-SPC-Summary-2021.

Next term we will have students outline a lot of the service and opportunities they are involved in, especially as they get older.

Have a safe and blessed holiday.

St Patrick's College Adult Winter Sleep Out

The Winter Sleep Out for students is happening soon and proving very popular. In the wake of this, the Parent Social Justice Group (ParentsSOL) expressed an interest in running a similar event for parents and carers on a different evening. You will sleep out in the undercover areas near the Hall, have a simple meal together and share in some empathy exercises around homelessness and people living on the margins. It will cost at least $20 to participate – covering costs and making a donation to homeless services at  St Vincent De Paul.

We will be running this evening on Friday 29 July, with more details sent to those who are interested. You will NOT be able to come on the student night, only the designated Adult Sleep Out.

We would love as many people as possible to fill in the form at this link – one question only to show us the level of interest from the community: Expression of Interest for Adult Winter Sleep Out.

In the words of one mother – “I see the impact justice activities have had on my son in his time at the College and I want to be a part of it or experience similar.” It’s an opportunity you may want, appreciate or even need, so we urge you to consider this simple way of connecting more with our most marginalised.

Alice Springs Immersion Underway

Our Year 11 students and staff have started their immersion in Alice Springs after three years away from our normal interactions. We took in the town and then experienced a traditional smoking ceremony and welcome to country on the first day at St Joseph’s. You will hear more on their return next term, but for now please keep them in your prayers and walk with them on their journey of reconciliation and friendship.
