PERFORMING ARTS

What a fantastic start to Term 4. Students across the faculty are preparing for performance exams, and we wish them well in their endeavours.
Theatre Studies students presented their final VCE performance monologues on Friday 7 October, and we are thrilled with the effort that they all put into the research, the characterization and the performances.
Music Performance students have now started presenting their VCE performances for assessment and will continue to present their work over the next month. We are delighted in the preparation of both technical aspects and the artistry in their performances. Congratulations to those that have presented, and good luck to those still left to perform.
AMEB exams across a number of instruments will be taking place in the next few weeks, with rehearsals with accompanists taking place. We wish all students undertaking these exams, the best of luck.
Congratulations to all the students in the Orchestra, Wind Symphony, String Quartet, Chamber Strings, Flute Choir and the Senior Singers who presented an outstanding Spring Concert on Sunday 9 October at St John’s Anglican Church. The audience were incredibly appreciative of the standard of work that was presented across the board, with many describing the music as “extraordinarily beautiful”.
We thank the Glen Eira Council who supported the development of this concert series in conjunction with the members of St Johns. Incredible thanks also to Tracy Videon, Clare Bugeja, Bernadette Russo, Blanka West, James Morrissey, Dmitry Serebrianik and David Collier for their organisation and preparation for this concert.
Thank you to the fantastic Ovenden Band who performed brilliantly at the final General Assembly on Monday 10 October. Thank you to James Morrissey for his development of this group over the year. Thank you also Adele Finn (Year 9) for performing the National Anthem.
