Moch Trials

Well done to all players, who gave their best in all games played. Òn the last day of Term 1, (Friday 8th April) , the HKHS Mock Trial team competed against Lake Munmorah High School in Round 2 of the Mock Trial competition. It was a criminal case regarding stolen goods in custody. HKHS were the prosecution and had to prove that the defendant knew that the goods in their house were stolen. Overall, HKHS won the trial on points, however we were unable to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was guilty. Vesna Bakarich-Davies was Barrister 1, Jack Simpson Barrister 2, and Micah Booth was Solicitor. Alyssa Russotti and Tony Bush were excellent witnesses and Mason Bruinning stepped in at the last minute as Magistrates Clerk. All of these students did an excellent job and spoke very well during the trial, keeping our Mock Trial team undefeated so far in the competition.

Touch Football

Well done to the Open Girl's Touch Football side today who played in the Sydney Knock-Out competition at Bateau Bay on Monday 9th of May.

The team lost in a tough first game against Kincumber. With only having 8 players for this game, the girls did extremely well to put up a good contest against a strong Kincumber side. Ashlyn Hyland was a standout scoring all 4 of Henry Kendall’s tries.

The team then played in a three-way contest against Gosford and Lisarow High. The girls beat Gosford 5-2 in a great performance. In the final game against Lisarow, they were defeated in a close game.

U14 Boys Futsal Off to State Championships

On Monday 9 May the U14 boys Futsal team competed in the Regional Championships at Niagara Park Stadium. The boys won their pool first losing to Lisarow, then beating them and St Philip's twice.  They then played in the semi final against a very classy Lakes Grammar who had just annihilated the team that had beaten us in the first round. Lakes got off to a quick start with a goal in the first minute however in the second half our team came back to make it 1-1 by full-time. The game went to penalty shootout where 3 players had a direct penalty shot from each team. The shots by Jun Heo, Dashiell Hartley and Sion Kim were all successful and we beat Lakes by one goal to advance to the finals against Tumbi Umbi.

Dashiell Hartley, Jozua Homer,
Dashiell Hartley, Jozua Homer,

Tumbi got off to a quick start scoring 3 goals in the first 3 minutes.  Our team finally kicked into  gear and scored a goal, however Tumbi got their fourth and final goal to win 4-1. The boys played hard but fair and are a credit to their school for both their performance and sportsmanship. Since the  boys made it to the finals they now get to compete in the State Championships at Maitland Basketball Stadium on Tuesday 21 June.
