Onsite Application for Year 3-6 students.

Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge

Mount Pleasant Road is excited to be participating in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge. A new application is being used this year that offers a range of exciting features including:

  • access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs)
  • a modern user-friendly interface
  • rewarding  students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved
  • the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. Students may choose to read books in other languages to add to their challenge list. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 4 September 2020.

Students from Foundation to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books and their teacher will add books read in class. Students from Year 3 to Year 6 are challenged to read 15 books.

This week students will be given a username and password to log into the Challenge website. It would be appreciated if Foundation to Year 2 parents could assist their child in recording books read. Year 3 to 6 students are expected to add their books independently. All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

Happy reading!

Reach

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that the University of New South Wales (UNSW) who host the Reach Assessments have cancelled the 2020 Reach. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience, as I know many of our MPRPS families had signed up for the additional opportunity we provide for our students. We will be providing a refund for families.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Marissa Mundy

Parent Phonogram Program

We were unable to run our course this year for parents so Mrs Emma McCoy has recorded all the phonograms and tips on how to say them in three sequential videos. All families have access to the printed A4 page of phonograms at the back of their Information Books.
