Family Week

This week we celebrate CatholicCare Family Week. CatholicCare offers a range  of programs and services  for families  that aim to build and strengthen relationships because they know that strong relationships are crucial in life.

The theme this year is  ‘Building Connections in the Spirit of Hope’. Hope is a powerful and transformative idea - especially for the lives of the most vulnerable in our community. During this time of the pandemic we have all been vulnerable to varying degrees. Most of us have spent  a great deal of time with some family members but we have also experienced having to physically distance ourselves from many other family members.

As the self isolation restrictions begin to ease we will again be able to build connections with our families. Building strong relationships and connections with partners, families, children, and the community is crucial for a person to be healthy in mind, body and spirit.

This year’s Family Week theme focuses on providing hope for vulnerable families, while building the rich, broad and meaningful connections that promote resilience in a family and a community. Relationships are at the heart of why CatholicCare exists.

Taking part in Family Week is a great opportunity for you and your children to come together to celebrate and reflect on the relationships in your lives. It is also a chance for your children to look beyond their own immediate families, and reflect on how they can help those who are doing it tough - how they can bring hope in to someone’s life.

Attached below is a booklet from CatholicCare that contains stories of people who through compassion, love and hope are transforming their lives and the lives of others. There are activities for use at home to help children and their families come together and build on their connections and celebrate the role of family. Through these activities, or your own creative variations, we hope children will see themselves as confident agents in building up their own family and community connections.

As we prepare to welcome back to Corpus Christi all of our students and their families in the next few weeks let us keep everyone in our prayers.

Prayer For Families

We pray for the students of Corpus Christi School. May they be thankful for their God given gifts and talents.

We pray for the parents, caregivers and staff of our school. May they help us all to grow in God’s love.

We pray for all the family members of our school community.

That during this pandemic

we all stay safe and well.

We welcome God’s love into our hearts.

With this love we reach out to our families, near and far, and pray God’s blessing on them and on each other.

May God our Father make us more and more part of his family. May Jesus our brother bless us with peace.

Amen

Sunday Mass Activities for Children

In the first reading at Mass on Sunday 17th May we hear how Philip preached the Word of God to the people of Samaria, and how he showed signs. The people were filled with joy. The apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people in Samaria believed in Jesus. Peter and John went there to pray that they would also receive the Holy Spirit.
