Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was with a great sense of excitement that we welcomed our senior students back to St John's. Our school and playground is again filled with life and laughter. It is wonderful to witness the strengthening of relationships between students and staff as we move from the online learning back to the real classroom environment. We are reminded of the importance of developing relationships within our community to support the growth of our students.

When welcoming back our students we have discovered that they are independent and resilient, bringing a new appreciation for the school community and environment. They have all grown physically, emotionally and academically. It is a credit to all of you to witness this development and the smooth transition back to school.

I would love to hear your feedback around the Remote Learning period. Please complete this online survey to share your experience. https://forms.gle/7EM9LDzQEoHHSBFJ8

We were all deeply saddened by the recent demonstrations and riots across the world.

As a FIRE Carrier school it is important that we recognise and acknowledge the cries our Indigenous brothers and sisters to see a new Australia that prides itself on the treatment of First Nations Peoples, that reveres the cultural heritage of this land; where every child who goes to school learns about the First Nations people as the Guardians and protectors of Mother Earth.

We need our students, the next generation, to learn how the Indigenous Australians lived off the land, respecting and caring for it like our Mother. There are over 500 Aboriginal Nations in every inch of this Great Southern Land who are the longest continuous race on the face of this planet earth.

We all need to acknowledge the racism in our own country and show greater acceptance, respect and understanding of all Australians. When this happens, we will have the world that God really wants.

School Fees

This week all fee statements will be sent home. Thank you to the families who have been able to continue paying their fees to ensure the smooth running of all programs. So that we are able to continue providing resources for all students it is important that fees are paid in a timely manner throughout the year.

If you are unable to meet your commitment to pay your school fees please contact the school to make an appointment with me.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

We are delighted that this week our students will participate in the online Mass for the Feast of the Scared Heart. As part of the Feast day we collect donations for those in need in our community. Our local St Vincent de Paul Conference would appreciate donations of non-perishable foods such as rice, pasta, pasta sauce, tuna, tin fruit, tin vegetables etc. Boxes are in each class to collect donations.

Community Association

It was great to have the opportunity to meet again with the Community Association last week. We discussed the End of Term special food day, the Outreach Program, social and fundraising events for later in the year.

School Reports

I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication, of all our staff who are currently involved in preparing school reports, which will assist in providing our students and their families with the feedback and support they will need with regards to their future learning and wellbeing.

Have a great week!
