Year 10 Pop Culture

Here are three reflections by students in Year 10 Pop Culture class and a the picture they were given to inspire them (main above)

This picture (left) shows Andy in a dark room with his hammer and a light shining against him. If you just look at him you can tell he’s not happy but I think that’s where the shining light comes in and shows that even when there’s darkness there’s always light no matter the circumstances.

I can hear rustling, the wind in the leaves, and the sound of water, I can hear birds flying from tree to tree, the flap of their wings and the tunes of their voices. I can hear the ground underneath my feet as I walk along the forest like area, and my own thoughts circling around my head, and bugs around us that are heard but not seen.

I can see lots and lots of green, green trees with long dark wooden beams, green bushes and grass, green mould in the muddy dirt on the rocks that litter the area, I can see a puddle of water, and the wet ground around it. I can see a blue sky, pale, with light radiating from it at a low frequency, trees that extend to hights way taller than I could ever be, and ones that are not there yet but someday will be.

I can smell water and dirt, the essence of those two calmly mixing in the air, I can smell the thick smell of the forest that always seems to follow, I can smell the light breeze and so much more yet nothing else at the same time.

I can feel the dirt underneath my shoes or the rocks I walk across, I can feel the wind on my cheeks and in my hair and the light sun being cast across my features, there’s a slight wetness to the air but the area is not cold, nor is it hot, it’s almost as if there is no temperature, It’s just, there. Much like myself.

English Quick Write  Alisha Schippl

My favourite place to be is home. Right now this is pretty good because everyone is being advised to stay at home and not go out. My house is my favourite place to be because it’s always relaxing and I can chill. It’s usually pretty quiet, but it doesn’t matter too much to me because most of the time I have headphones on and I’m listening to my favourite music.

There are a lot of places at my house that are comfortable to be. My room is great because I have the most comfortable bed and by far the best view in the house. From my bedroom I can see a variety of green trees and plants. There are palm trees and occasionally a hammock set up between two. I have a clear view of a pergola we just put up, with a white top and seating. I can also see the dam with its rippling water, there are birds hopping around and butterflies floating through the air.

The place where I am most of the time in my house is at my desk in the study area. it’s closer to the kitchen than my bedroom and everything I need is there. it’s a bit messy and there are things everywhere, but that’s how I like it. It is also right by the fireplace so I am always kept toasty and warm when the days get colder.

Sometimes when the weather’s nice I sit outside on the enclosed verandah on a swing chair and read. it’s always peaceful there and there’s a fan to keep cool in the summer.
