The Principal's Pen

Earlier this year, Cornerstone staff took part in an Australia-wide survey of Christian schools focused on the Cross-Curriculum Priority in the Australian Curriculum, “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures”. This priority has previously been considered by our staff through a series of professional learning sessions, so they were in a good position to provide relevant feedback for the survey. The company conducting the survey, Australians Together, recently presented a summary of their findings and were very appreciative of the efforts that Cornerstone is making to include this priority in their approach to learning.

Stemming from their work in this area, Australians Together have created a range of resources, from a Christian perspective, allowing us to further develop our approach in our school. Words like reconciliation, unity, stewardship and care have deep meaning when looking at indigenous issues, but they also resonate very strongly with our Christian message. We are well placed to carry on in this important work.
