Last week at Mackellar we celebrated Book Week; a week dedicated to bringing children and books together across Australia, whilst celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.

We celebrated Book Week with a range of different activities throughout the week, centred around this year’s theme, ‘Dreaming With Eyes Open’. In our classrooms, teachers and students enjoyed reading this year’s CBCA shortlisted books and completing a range of activities based on these stories.

Dress Up Day

On Monday, our wonderful students and teachers had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book/fictional character. Members of our school community came along to watch our fabulous dress up parades, which were a lot of fun. Take a look at some of the creative costumes on display!

Performance Incursion

On Tuesday, Perform Education visited Mackellar for a special Book Week performance, titled ‘Story Quest’. Students in Grades Prep-5 were immersed in storytelling and interaction with this year’s CBCA Shortlisted books woven into an engaging, original narrative filled with music, adventure and intrigue. The two performers, Obed and Zoe, did a fantastic job bringing the stories to life and involving our students in parts of the interactive performance.
