Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

After several weeks on leave, it has been wonderful to be back and see the smiling faces of all the students and staff.  Thank you to everyone for their kind wishes during my absence.  At this point, I would also take this opportunity to pass on my sincere thanks and well done to both Anthony Michielin for his role as Acting Principal, and Kylie Kennedy in her role as Acting Assistant Principal during this period.  Kylie will remain acting assistant principal alongside Anthony until the end of the year as I make my way back to returning full-time on site.

Earlier this term, 100 parents were randomly selected to receive the Parent Opinion Survey. This survey is a wonderful opportunity for parents to let us know how we are doing across a range of school operations.  To date the response rate for this has been quite low, however we are hoping in this last week of school that many more of those parents who received a survey will complete it. If you have received a survey link electronically, please take some time to complete that as soon as possible.

Last week, students in grade 5 and grade 3 had their NAPLAN results sent home to parents. If your child did sit the NAPLAN, please take the time to read over the results in conjunction with your child's mid-year report.  If you have any queries about your child's NAPLAN results you may like to discuss this with your child's classroom teacher. You can do this by arranging a mutually agreeable time with them via XUNO.

Whilst we will provide further information to you next term about our overall NAPLAN results, at this stage I can tell you that we did exceptionally well across the board.  Each and every student who sat the NAPLAN should be very proud of their efforts, and I know I am very proud and thankful to all of the staff for supporting our students during this period.  Once school council has unpacked the results, we will be sure to share the highlights with our community.

Finally, a reminder that this Friday is the end of term three. The children will be dismissed on Friday at 2:30pm. If you are needing the services of TheirCare, they will be offering care from 2:30pm. On behalf of all of the staff, we hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday period, and we look forward to seeing everyone's happy and smiling face next term.

Regards,

Simon McGlade
