Sabrina has just won the NSW Dept Education, Excellence in Vocational Education and Training award for Excellence, diligence and effort in VET.
Sabrina is currently completing her HSC year at CGHS and is studying Certificate II in Kitchen Operations. Sabrina was nominated for the award as she is a hard-working student in both practical and theory lessons. She has demonstrated an extensive knowledge of all competencies. She is always keen to learn new skills and practices to master them.
Sabrina has often acted as “head chef”, during class time where she was in charge of delegating tasks to her team and leading the group which has taught her a lot about working as a team. She has gained skills in new techniques in food preparation and how to safely handle and store food.
Sabrina says, “there are many things I have learnt in this course but the most important one is the belief in myself. Before starting this course, I did not feel that school was necessarily my thing. I now am a top student in Hospitality and my confidence has been boosted in all areas of my life; I would encourage all future students to do a VET course like Hospitality as the practical component and competency-based assessment tasks allow all students to succeed. “”
Sabrina is currently looking for opportunities for further study in the industry. We look forward to hearing more about her successful career in the future

Thank you to Emily for teaching the teachers her craft. Thank you to CGHS P&C for their fundraising efforts and The University of Sydney for their kind donation.
