To celebrate Book Week, Year 7 had a wonderful talk from local author Lisa Sibbery. Students got to hear about Lisa's influences as a writer, her inspiration, how she became a professional writer and had the opportunity for a Q and A.
Some of Lisa's titles include: The Brilliant Ideas of Lily Green and the Plum and Woo series. Look out for some of these titles in our school library soon!
A big thank you to Lisa for coming in and speaking to our students
CGHS Visual Arts yrs 11 & 12 exhibition provided the audience with the opportunity to vote for their favourite artworks. It was a difficult task for parents, teachers and students as the works displayed throughout the entire library space were so expressive and unique.

On Thursday 8 September 2022 an excursion for school students (K-10) on itinerant hearing caseload was organised to The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney with the Lugarno Hearing Team. Students participated in the Bella Schools Program. This program provided creative learning opportunities which encouraged students to explore and communicate through art. During this program, students had the opportunity to develop new art making skills, with emphasis on social interaction, collaboration and enjoyment.
When the program concluded, students had lunch and participate in game activities. This excursion was a great opportunity for students to meet and get to know other deaf of hard or hearing students on caseload with the Lugarno and Burwood Hearing Teams

That was the moto for the masterful, magnificent and marvellous mathematics excursion undertaken by Canterbury Girls’ Year 8 students on Thursday 1st September 2022.
Boarding the bus, the rain started to dry up, and off on our adventure we went.
But on disembarking the bus at the Botanical gardens we all got cleansed. (yes, it rained)
First call of the day was calculating the average speed by knowing the distance travelled (a polite student asked for the odometer reading of the bus) and the time it took, (read off the clock in the bus). This was followed by starting our travel graph.
Arrival at the Botanical gardens.
The teachers now guided us through the Royal Botanical Gardens to discover all the math's that was on offer. This ranged from;
Although some of these activities were challenging, we completed them, gaining a high level of understanding whilst exploring one of Sydney’s wonders.
