From the Principal

One of the things I love about Langwarrin Park Primary School, is the strong sense of community we have.

COVID definitely impacted on our school community and this year we have had a strong focus on 're-connecting'. Some recent events have been great examples of welcoming our school community back into the school:

  1. Foundation Grandparents Day
  2. Book Week Celebrations
  3. Grade 2 Grandparents Day
  4. Different excursions, incursions and camps
  5. Parent helpers supporting classroom teachers.

As we move into Term 4, we will continue to look at ways we can involve all members of the community in the life of our school.

2023 Planning

It has hard to believe that I have already begun working on our 2023 workforce plan. As I have previously communicated in our school newsletter, if you know that your child will not be attending Langy Park next year, can you please let the office know at your earliest possible convenience. Our school enrolments directly impact the number of staff I can employ.

Our 2023 Foundation Transition Program begins next Thursday, which will be an exciting opportunity for our new Foundation students to have their first proper experience in our school environment.  Our current 2023 Foundation enrolment is close to 100 students which is fantastic!

In early Term 4, we will begin the work of setting up our 2023 grades and will inform you of this process once it is confirmed.

School Uniform Policy

I hope you have taken the time to read our school uniform policy that I sent out recently. Having students in the correct uniform is an important way of building school connectedness and pride.

Sun Smart

We are now into the Sun Smart time of year. From next Monday (5th September), all students are expected to wear a school hat when playing outside. Can you please make sure that your child brings their school hat to school on Monday.

I thankyou for ensuring your child is wearing the correct school uniform when they come to school each day.

2022 NAPLAN RESULTS

We have just received our school' s NAPLAN results. We will be sending out the relevant student reports to parents very shortly. NAPLAN is an important measurement tool for student achievement and growth (in Grade 3 and 5). It is also important to keep perspective with this type of testing and that it provides a snap shot of a child's Literacy and Numeracy achievement levels at a given point in time.

DET Parent Opinion Survey

So far around one quarter of our parent community have responded to the DET parent survey. I encourage all parents/carers to respond to this survey. It provides our school leadership team with valuable data on how we are tracking as a school from a parent perspective.

I will email and dojo the login details for this survey again over the weekend for those who would like to complete it.

Student Free Day next Friday

Just a reminder that next Friday (9th September) is a student free day.  This is another additional student free day that was allocated by DET earlier in the year.

Fathers Day

On behalf of the Langy Park Primary School community, I would like to wish all our Dads and 'Special Blokes' a very Happy Fathers Day for Sunday.

Based on what was available at our Fathers Day stall on Monday, some very special gifts are coming your way!

Have a relaxing weekend everyone.

Cheers,

Richard
