Working Bee dates for 2022
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 10th September
Kalinda relies on Working Bees to help maintain the extensive grounds that we are very fortunate to have. To make it fair, we ask that families attend at least one working bee a year. Working Bees are a great opportunity to contribute to your children's school if you cannot assist in any other way, and also a good opportunity to meet other parents at the post-Working Bee BBQ.
We have scheduled 5 Working Bees throughout the year, with a mixture of Saturdays and Sundays to be flexible.
Families who come along will need to attend a small OHS induction before starting.
The working bee starts at 10.00 am and runs for approximately 2 hours. Students are most welcome to attend.
Please contact Ted via the office if you have any other enquiry.

Did someone say Camp?
School camp experiences are a wonderful opportunity for students to build independence and push their boundaries in a new and exciting environment. However, some students can be anxious about going to camp.
Help give students a sense of purpose by talking about why they are going on camp and the skills they will gain. Spend time discussing camp with students to help reduce worries before the big day. Begin by asking how they are feeling. Nervous? Excited? Do they have concerns over particular activities? This gives you an opening to discuss any misconceptions.
To engage students and alleviate anxiety:
- Show your child the camp beforehand by visiting the website and viewing the images and activities.
- Discuss the camp schedule in a positive manner, and what to expect day-to-day. This builds a sense of excitement as students begin to discuss the activities they will participate in.
- When information from school, comes home, discuss this with your child.
- Go through the packing list and answer any questions. Make sure you pack items as a team, they need to know where their items are, and they need to be able to repack.
- Practice independence in self-care such as hair brushing, showering, and changing clothes.
