Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

The arrival of some Spring sunshine has provided a welcome addition to the week.  As the UV index creeps up, it is also a reminder that it is time to dust off the school hats.  If your child has taken their school hat home for the winter, please make sure these are returned to school by Monday.

Yesterday music group Eastwinds, a trio ensemble from Fremantle, visited our school as part of the Musica Viva in Schools program.  Through music and story, the trio shared their love of improvisation with students, along with the influence of their Australian, Japanese and Iranian cultures.

This term, the students have been familiarising themselves with their unique sound and unusual instruments in music lessons.  They will be learning more about improvisation and story telling through music in the coming weeks.  Our thanks again to Emily for her organisation of this activity for our students.

Congratulations to those students who participated in last week's Hoppet and Inter-School skiing and snowboarding competition. At Monday's assembly, it was great to hear students talk about their achievement and overall enjoyment in these events.

Today was our final ski day for students in Years 5 & 6.  Many thanks to all our volunteers for their assistance over the course of this program and to our staff for their organisation and coordination.  Our students have had a great experience, thanks to all your care and support.

The Year 3 & 4 Cross Country ski day will be held on Tuesday 13th September and consent can be completed on Compass.  Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to assist, however more volunteers are still needed.  Please contact the school if you are able to assist on the day.  All volunteers must have a current Working with Children's Check.  If you haven't already done so, please ensure a copy is provided to the office.

On Friday the 7th October, the Division Athletics will be held in Wodonga. Students who met the qualification requirements at our Cluster event, will receive further information about this next week.

Reminders:

The annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is available to complete.  Please take the time to complete this survey by Friday 16th September.

The Australian Dental Health visit has been rescheduled for the first week of term 4. Families who returned their forms earlier in the year, do not need to do anything.  If you did not complete a form and would like your child to participate, please drop into the office to collect a form or give us a call.  If for any reason you wish to withdraw consent, please contact the office asap.
