HOUSE MUSIC

The one Senior School event for the whole year where the whole House, yes every single student, takes to the stage to represent their House is tomorrow. The four Houses will battle it out in a festival of singing, choralography and Year 12 costumery to see who is crowned the House Music Champions of the year. Following the singing, each house must present an instrumental item that features a minimum of five students.  The chosen work for this section is completely free and can play to the ‘strengths’ of each House.  Most importantly House Music is the last competition in the season and as such can decide the coveted House trophy which is presented on Speech Day. The theme for 2022 is ‘Boy Bands’.  Don’t miss House Music 2022, Friday September 16.

Hamilton Symphony Gala

The College was beautifully represented by the Chamber Singers under the direction of Mrs Anne Kristin Christie at the Hamilton Symphony Orchestra’s Gala Concert last Sunday.  Singing ‘I am the Earth’ with full symphony orchestra backing, the choir provided a fitting finale to the concert that also featured our singing teacher Mr Craig Everingham. The Hamilton Performing Arts Centre, Handbury Auditorium was full of enthusiastic music patrons of all ages. This annual concert is certainly back on the program.

AMEB Solo and Group Examinations

Congratulations to all our students who presented for Australian Music Examination Board examinations on Tuesday this week.  AMEB examiner, Mrs Lynley Bramble commented on the breadth and quality of students presenting from Preliminary Grade through to Eight Grade and Certificate of Performance.  Repertoire presented at the Certificate of Performance level is professional concert repertoire and Nicholas Hoskyns, our candidate this year, is to be particularly congratulated for his preparation and performance of works at such a high standard.  Our soloists were well prepared and approached the day with a sense of achievement, willing to enjoy demonstrating the hard work that they have put in for a pursuit they love.  Our ensembles, the Pizzicato Strings, Kantor Players and Senior Chamber Orchestra also presented, and this brought a whole other dimension to the experience with students presenting in groups.
