Youth Steering Committee
This week the Minister for Youth, the Hon Dr Anne Aly MP opened applications for the Government’s Youth Steering Committee, with young Australians aged between 12 and 25 encouraged to apply. The aim of this program is to allow young people more input in shaping the decisions made by government in areas of public life that impact young people. Young people from diverse backgrounds and experiences are urged to apply to represent all voices in our community.
Rural voices continue to be less represented in Government decisions, and this program provides our youth with an opportunity to have a say. Please discuss this possibility with your child and get them engaged with a program that will provide them with a wealth of new skills and experiences. Subject Confirmation
The end of Week 9 signals the culmination of a busy term of students selecting their academic program for 2023. Our Emerge, Year 10-12 students for 2023 will receive confirmation of their program this week and we hope to notify students in Explore, Years 8-9, 2023 of their program early in Term 4.
Revision for VCE
As we head into a two-week non-instruction period, I encourage our VCE students to take some time to set clear goals and daily rhythms that allow them to continue learning.
The end of year examination is fast approaching, and our students can make significant progress in the final weeks of the VCE program. A reminder for students and parents to attend the Student/Parent/Teacher Interviews this afternoon (15/9/22) and make time to reflect on the next steps required to make progress. Small tasks like re-reading VCE English texts, viewing the film, making flash cards and asking parents/guardians to help test can all contribute to a collaborative and support revision program. Head of VCE Mrs Rebekah Bonnett has organised a detailed revision program and trial exam period for all Unit 3-4 Students.
At The Hamilton and Alexandra College, we want our young people to change the world and lead with confidence, knowledge and integrity.
