Celebrating all that is Good with Joy and Gratitude

This year’s theme of ‘Wonder’ implores us to consider the deeper purpose of our surroundings and our life. The call to celebrate all that is good with joy and gratitude is drawn directly from God’s word. The imperative to rejoice is one of the most frequently explored in the Bible. We are urged to be glad (joyful in the Lord) and be assured of God’s love for us.  The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, repeatedly implores people to trust in our Lord and live from a place of joyful gratitude, regardless of our situation and the challenges that we are faced with. True joy is found in God and resides within our hearts, despite our situation. Living from a place of gratitude is a gift of Grace, it can bring us a deep peace, a peace that passes all understanding. (Philippians 4:6)

Year 12 Information Evening

Thank you to those who joined us for the Year 12 Information Evening on Thursday 9 September. It is wonderful to have so many parents partnering with us for these final few months of their daughter’s Kilbreda journey. If you were unable to join us please watch a recording of this webinar to familiarise yourself with important information regarding trial examinations, the GAT, the Consideration of Education Disadvantage (CED) process and end of year examinations.

VCAL Showcase

Tuesday 14 September saw our Year 12 VCAL students present their Individual Projects as part of the VCAL showcase. This was a wonderful celebration of the learning that students had undertaken throughout the year and demonstrated their growth and personal development. Thank you so much to Ms Jenny Gamble and the VCAL students for the wonderful evening. The VCAL Showcase was a wonderful example of celebrating all that is good with joy and gratitude.

VCE Unit 3 & 4 Trial Examinations

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are currently unable to hold trial examinations onsite. Therefore, we will be conducting trial exams asynchronously at home during the second week of the holidays. This model allows students to sit and receive timely feedback on a trial exam for every subject in which they are enrolled.

All students studying a Unit 3/4 subject will receive the required trial examination papers in the mail. If you have not received your trial examinations yet, please email julie.kipps@kilbreda.vic.edu.au so that the required trial examination papers can be emailed to you to print at home.

When completing trial exams asynchronously students must:

  • Complete the trial examinations at home under examination conditions
  • Adhere to the time requirements for each of the trial examinations
  • Only access permitted materials during the completion of the trial examinations

Please refer to the email sent to families regarding the return of trial examination papers.

GAT

The General Achievement Test (GAT) is scheduled for Tuesday 5 October. All students studying a Unit 3/4 VCE subject or a scored VET are required to sit the GAT.

Information was sent to all students and parents via email last week and more specific details regarding on-site protocols and seating plans will be communicated closer to the date of the GAT to ensure that our procedures are in line with up to date COVID restrictions and recommendations.
