Junior Class - Mrs Creek

What a fun Wednesday to come back to school on. Our very own St. Patricks’ Show Day. Everyone enjoyed all the fun activities.

To start our week, I introduced a poem called, ‘Merry-Go-Round’. The students followed the rhyme of the poem and watched a video of the ride. Merry-Go-Rounds or Carousels can be for both young and old. Our shared story is titled, ‘Handa’s Surprise’ by Eileen Browne. Our surprise ending comes through the illustrations. An essential reading skill is to always remember to look at the pictures first to key you into the story.

We are continuing our focus on groups, both to name the number of groups and the number in each group. Data information is also being interpreted.

As a class we pray each day. Our scripture reflection this week is that Jesus is referred to as our rock. He can be the foundation stone on which we can build our lives upon.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This has been such a short week full of fun and learning for all. We were all lucky enough to have Monday and Tuesday off of school and it was nice to hear that some families got to head away for the long weekend and enjoy some time together out of the house. On Wednesday we had a lovely day celebrating the St Patrick's School Show. We had lots of marvelous creations and I could tell from the Lego table that the 2/3 classroom love to build and create using Lego. Most of that table was filled with our creations. We had a wonderful afternoon of  participating in activities to conclude our day.

In reading we have been working on the book ‘Dear Greenpeace’ to see how letters are sent in return to one another, how they answer questions and in turn ask more questions or give further details.

In writing we have been working on responding to letters from the children from Miss Webb’s class in Darwin. We have loved getting to know them and finding out more about them.

In maths we are working on graphing and plotting data.

Senior Class - Ms Murphy

Over this short week we have covered much ground and it is fantastic to see so many students pushing through end of term fatigue to produce some excellent work and remain engaged with their learning. We are beginning to prepare for graduation and have started to work on some ideas for this special event. Whatever shape or form the Graduation may take, be prepared to be entertained!

It was really exciting to see the 3-6s so enthusiastically participating in Religious Education this week as we look at how we can better treat Our Common Home, the Earth. There are so many fresh and ‘doable’ ideas from Senior students around how we can be better stewards of our Earth and an awareness of what needs to be done. You may have heard that the Fifth Plenary Council met recently to discuss and reflect upon what God is asking of the church today. This is the first meeting of the Council since the Second Vatican Council in 1937 and I am certain the issues discussed today were vastly different from those discussed all those years ago. There is much more to being a Catholic than going to mass and God is asking us to think about how we can take action together to make changes for the greater good of Our Common Home with Christ at the centre of our actions.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised AJ with a Little Joey award. (Tyler and Jonas were presented with their awards from two weeks ago). Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
