Book Week

We once again found ourselves in lockdown during book week and once again students and staff stepped up to make the virtual book parade a success and bring some joy and light relief to the school community. The entries demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness and, best of all, a sense of fun. If you haven’t seen it yet, the compilation video on the THS Youtube channel will make you smile and warm your heart.

It was a delight to see pet participation in the parade - notably Maddy’s wee dog, who made a convincing Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Claire’s pooch as Fancy Nancy’s canine companion and Winnie who played Wolf to Mr Polwarth’s Steve from Minecraft: The Island.

A special mention also to Ms Blunt’s 7G English class, Ms Parrey’s y11 English class, and Ms McCulloch’s year 11 media class for their group contributions.

Thank you to our y12 student judges - Monica Charan, Sofia Thaniotis and Tess o’Brien - for judging the following prize winners:

  • 1st overall winner for best costume - Maddy Engeler as Ursula from The Little Mermaid
  • 2nd overall winner for best costume - Mia Armstrong as Sylvia Pankhurst, author of The Suffragette
  • 3rd overall winner for best costume – Sam Agnew as Klaus Beaudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • Best homemade costume - Joseph Joyce as Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom
  • Most original costume – Aisha Eastwood as the web from Charlotte’s Web
  • Best in-character performance – Claire Hitchen as Fancy Nancy
  • Best Staff costume - Miss Fowler as Catherine from Wuthering Heights

Thank you and well done to everyone who participated and helped make the virtual book parade a success!
