Year 10 Japanese

Japanese is a really fun and enjoyable subject because the classes are made engaging with games and activities, there’s always something new to learn and various ways to continue to develop your skills through speaking, writing, listening and reading.

So far this year, the Year 10s have been studying how to say locations, parts of the body, the seasons, clothing and how to describe appearance, whilst also revising key words and phrases from previous years.

My favourite part of Japanese is being able to put what I’ve learnt into practice, whether that may be in school or in public and having so many opportunities presented such as competing in language competitions, meeting exchange students from Japan and one day maybe even being able to visit Japan.

Learning a language is a rewarding experience because it opens your mind to learning about different cultures and helps you feel more connected with the world.

Year 10

This year, in Year 10, I chose to continue with my language studies as a Japanese student. For me, this was an easy decision as I have been enjoying Japanese since Year 7, when it was first presented to me as an elective choice.

This year, after just six weeks, we have already broadened our vocabulary to include words that describe locations, appearance, clothing, body parts, seasons and just in general, adjectives. We have also closely looked at the third alphabet of Japanese, Katakana, as well as learnt new characters from the second alphabet, Kanji.

Our group is thoroughly enjoying our Japanese class, especially the 'quizlets' and games that allow us to study whilst also having fun.
