Design and Technologies

Year 10 Textiles

Year 10 Textiles students are currently working on creating a calico toile in the style of their chosen Australian fashion designer.

Students design and construct their corsets with a zip or eyelet feature and they make it to measure for their individual models. It is a complex task as they learn new processes whilst staying true to their chosen designer’s individual style.

The corsets will be on show during the annual Fashion Parade at the Kilbreda Art and Design Exhibition in October. For most students this is their first attempt at designing and following a commercial pattern from fabric to garment.

Open Evening

During the Open Evening last week students engaged in a three-hour workshop as tour groups moved through the classroom.

It was wonderful to witness many positive interactions as students explained their design process to families on the tours.
