Welcome to Term 4 2021. This term the students and staff are enjoying settling in to our new look library.
Year 12 HSC Exam Study Aids in the Library
A reminder to Year 12 students that we have study aids for you available on the bookshelves in the Senior Study.
Focus on a Reading Culture and Improved Academic Results
There have been some changes this term to support the focus on a reading culture and improving academic results. There are changes in the layout, new lounges and individual chairs and additional, comfortable seating in the Senior Study. Our distinct library areas provide spaces for our booked classes and provide choices for our seniors during study periods.
During the study period, senior students either sit at the blue tables in the library or study in the Senior Study. The Senior Study is for students who are doing independent school work on their own in quiet surroundings while the blue tables and curved lounge offer the opportunity for collaborative work during study periods.
The Reading area in the library is not available for seniors during study periods. The Reading area is for our Junior English classes who are coming to the library to use the lounges and individual reading chairs on a frequent basis during lessons.
We look forward to the rest of Term 4 with our seniors and juniors sharing the spaces we have created as we continue to build our culture of reading and improvement in academic results.
Looking for Library Books
Now that McCarthy College has returned to face-to-face teaching, we are encouraging students to return library books that were borrowed earlier this year. We are looking for any of our library books that your student has borrowed; even if students borrowed them a long time ago. We ask that they return the books to the library. We have asked that students check lockers and at home. We would appreciate your support in encouraging students to return them to the library.
Borrow a Book Today
Come in, browse, sample and borrow a book. We urge students to come in and try something fresh. We have the latest young adult fiction, inspiring Manga biographies and some great DIY books. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
