CELEBRATING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE@CSPS
What an amazing year our Foundations have had. Over the year we have seen the pleasing progress our Foundation Students have made in their school work, developing friendships and general learning.
This term, we will be busily improving our reading and writing skills, extending our Maths skills through our Maths ToolBox Goals as well as exploring wider Maths concepts, eg. sharing, fractions, capacity, mass and money.
In Spanish we are learning to name the parts of our bodies as well as finding out more about Spanish culture. Most excitingly our inquiry project is all about toys and this week we enjoyed a visit from Task Works which has made us all the more enthusiastic to learn about how toys work.
A big thank you to Rebecca and Sian our lovely Mum helpers on the day and our Year 6's Eboni and Aria.

The Department of Education has updated reporting stages for Foundation to Year 1 students.
The Victorian Curriculum is made up of many levels, from Level A to Level 10. They form a continuum of learning across the years of schooling.
Levels A, B, C, and D are available for students who have not yet achieved Level Foundation of the curriculum.
Level D has recently been mapped to be within the early stages of the Foundation Level of the curriculum. As such, it has now been added to the five-point scale used in student reports. Previously this scale commenced at the Foundation Level.
At CSPS we know it is important to involve students and their parents or carers in learning, including any changes about how we report progress and achievement.
This change will provide more information about students working at Level D so we can best help support their learning.
Alaska N, Amber R and Caitlin R danced at the Melbourne Royal Show Sunday 1/10 (yellow costume) as part of the show's commitment to supporting the community, by featuring community group performances on the entertainment stage. Mikayla F (blue skirt) also danced on the same day but a different team.
STOMP dance program is a 6 week program culminating in a performance for families on Friday 17th November at our Cranbourne South Fiesta. This started last Friday.
These hip hop courses are designed to develop your students fundamental movement and coordination skills, as well as instilling them with respect, social skills, teamwork and self expression. They will perform basic to complex motor skills and movement patterns and become creative and confident all while having a great time.

NAPLAN moved from May to March this year, and changes were made to reporting in order to provide simpler, clearer, and more meaningful results.
The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) is keen to hear from principals and teachers, as well as parents and carers, on these changes. Feedback is currently being captured via a survey, which will be open until early December 2023.
You can access a link to the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NRTZCHN.
Please note that the survey is managed by ACARA, and the VCAA will not collect or have access to any of the survey responses or results. Participation is voluntary; however, the VCAA encourages you to provide your feedback and to distribute the survey within your school community to support the ongoing evaluation of NAPLAN testing.
