ROOM 10

During Term 3 and 4, I have had an amazing response with our parents’ endeavours to continue their student’s education. On return from Remote and Flexible Learning, students have acclimatised themselves well into Room 10 routine. Students have shown resilience and adapted to unexpected changing events.

We have participated in many Science experiments. Prediction to the Lamp Lava varied- Jackson expected a blend, Levi thought bubbles, Nusaybah predicted the liquid would climb and Aayat believed it would be fizzy. The Lava Lamp was bubbling and fizzy on our first attempt. Redone, the bubbles grew and rose until it popped at the top.

Throughout the year all students have been involved in the Kids’ Kitchen – preparing the food, cooking and then cleaning up.

Aayat showed herself when she climbed up two poles the first time that taking a risk is a personal achievement. It followed with two more successes. Levi created a challenge moving a bottle of water on small pieces of paper across the table and back without spilling it.

Middle Years Sub School News

This week I have been watching everyone’s reverse videos on Seesaw. Students have been learning about making a short video clip which shows something in reverse. Students have also added sound effects and music to their clips which really makes the clips more exciting. Students have really enjoyed having Cisy in to teach media this year and have learnt about all sorts of photography and film techniques. Each week it is great to see how engaged students are and the amazing creations they make in class.

A highlight this year was the fantastic Claymation short films and the different photography skills. Our students have shown that they view the world differently and are able to capture wonderful images of things around them.

As the year nears an ends, classes are starting to prepare their students for finishing up in their current rooms and looking towards transition week. Classes have started Christmas and Summer activities. There have been lots of focus on science and social games. Students have been getting out and visiting the playground, climbing room and OT room to get rid of their excess energy.
