Assistant Principal

Hi there everyone!

The end of Term 4 is nearing, and our community is commencing preparations for our upcoming Transition Week to take place in Week 11. We understand that these transitions take a great deal of preparation to make sure that our students feel ready to enter their new learning spaces, join their new class groups and new staff for the next 12 months ahead. Exciting times for many!

Semester 2 Reporting

All families should have received their child's Semester 2 Report via email last week or in the post this week. These reports will include a record of students progress in English, Mathematics, Science, Critical and Creative Thinking, Technologies and for other specialist areas, as taught. If you were unable to receive your child's report, please contact me via Daniel.Moloney@education.vic.gov.au to forward it to you ASAP.

2022 Class Lists

All finalised 2022 Class Lists will be forwarded to our JSA families by email on Friday, 3rd December. Our leaders, welfare team and therapist have worked hard to understand the needs of our JSA students and have dedicated many hours to develop our lists.

Term 4 SSGs

Our Term 4 SSGs commenced this week to be conducted until Thursday, 9th December. All families should receive their parent form to outline the focus of the meeting and to confirm your availability to meet with your child's teacher. Please consider this as an ideal opportunity to seek further clarification regarding your child's learning progress. More so, share any updates regarding your child's medical needs or items to assist in preparing your child for their new classroom starting in Week 11.

Curriculum Teams 'Share the Mess' End of Year Celebration

At JSA we have 6 Curriculum Teams that focus on developing curriculum units in the areas of Literacy & Numeracy, Science & Humanities, Technologies (Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program), Personal and Social Capabilities and the Secondary Curriculum (i.e. HOL Build and Cafe, Career Education, Personal Skills and Travel Education).

Last Tuesday, our Curriculum Teams met online to share their great units of work, work samples, photos and video footage of our students interacting with their learning throughout the year. It is evident, that despite the challenges of Remote and Flexible Learning, many of our students shone as they accessed a range of hands on and interactive experiences at JSA. After such a successful year, we hope to learn from these successes to plan for an even better and more engaging curriculum program for 2022.

We look forward to enhancing our practices including developing multi-tiered systems to systematically review our programs twice a year, implementing our Years 7-12 Curriculum Pathways and appointing 3 aspirational leaders to lead our teams with leadership mentoring for 2022. It will be terrific to partake in this positive change for our students and staff to have their role now and into the future.
