Annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Every year, Trinity College participates in St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. The following story from St Vincent de Paul makes us understand how important their work is, in helping people overcome hardship.

In March 2020, as Covid-19 was just beginning to have an impact on people, two Vinnies volunteers heard that a couple living in a tent, were in desperate need of help. They were living in a local park so the Vinnies volunteers paid them a visit. They were shocked to discover that the woman was eight months pregnant. Just as the weather was getting cooler, the couple had found that sleeping on a couch at a friend's home was no longer possible, so they had to set up a tent in the park. Without help from St Vincent de Paul, their baby may have had to begin life living in a tent. Thankfully the Vinnies team took immediate action to find temporary accommodation and then to help the couple find a permanent house so that their baby was born into a secure and safe home.

We can help St Vincent de Paul make a difference to people's lives this Christmas by donating items to the Appeal.  All students are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable items to their PCG by Friday, 26 November. You can donate everyday necessities such as:

Year 9  Galilee Retreat

Campus Ministry and the TC staff always try to deliver meaningful and engaging retreat experiences for our students.  Thursday 11 November was no exception as our Year 9 students walked the shores of Galilee, listening to stories come alive about Jesus’ ministry.  The students were provided with opportunities to share their own stories and reflect on their relationship with God, family and friends.

Thank you to all the adult leaders who ran each PCG retreat, to the Year 9 PCG teachers, and eight of our Class of 2020 young men for participating in this special day – even when many were in the middle of their own university exams. We always pride ourselves on our College mantra, Men for Others, and a man who epitomises this for our staff is Mr Gerard Theseira.  He sees a need and he acts.  We are very blessed to have so many staff who volunteer on these retreat days.  Thank you!

Year 9 Mass

It is always a special time to have students, parents and staff pray and reflect together in the College Chapel.  This week, Mr Testa’s Year 9 students celebrated Mass.  A big thank you to all the incredible and talented readers, altar servers, running of the PowerPoint – probably the most difficult job, and to the parents who joined us in this Eucharistic celebration.  Fra Oscar’s homily always challenges the boys and allows them to reflect more deeply on how they can enact their faith in their own lives. A special thank you to our two Year 10 boys, Jehan Hopkins on piano and James Kenwery as his assistant.

Friday Community Mass (7.6) 8.00am

Friday 8:00am Community Mass runs each week.  A big thank you to 7.6 for hosting the Mass this week and to all our altar servers. It is a lovely way to begin a Friday morning, as we prepare for another weekend.  Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you there!
