Grade Four

The teachers in the Grade 4 Team are so excited to be back in the classroom with our students! It has been wonderful to see all of our students again in person after such a long period of remote learning. We have settled back into onsite learning by revisiting our classroom rules and routines, sharing experiences and stories from lockdown, and of course, reconnecting with each other through lots of games and fun activities!
During English lessons, the students are working on their reading comprehension strategies using a range of picture books and their Good Fit books. They are engaging with the texts and responding to them in a variety of ways, such as inferring and visualising. Students have begun working on independent writing pieces across a range of genres and are concentrating on making their writing even more interesting for their audience by using descriptive and figurative language.
The focus of our Maths lessons at the moment is fractions and decimals. Students are working hard to revise the concepts and skills they learnt about fractions in Term 1. They are also consolidating their understanding of multiplication and practising their division skills during our mental computation practice.
Grade 4 students have been very engaged during Integrated this term as they have been working on their ‘Passion Projects’. Students have chosen a topic that they feel passionate about and then devised a question about their topic to guide their research. Students have been developing their research skills by using a range of different sources to answer their chosen question, and they will then be presenting their project in the format of their choice. The students are really enjoying the opportunity to work on a project that explores their personal interests and the freedom to be as creative and inventive as they like with their finished product!
We are so glad to be back at school and we look forward to enjoying the rest of Term 4 together!
