SJC Video Conference

SJC (Student Justice Committee) Leaders from Years 7 (Cecille Z-J) and Year 8 (Risha M and Keeva O’K) joined a zoom meeting on 22 November with the student leaders of local primary schools across our district. The questions that needed to be answered were, 'What have you learnt from learning from home this year? What extracurricular activities are offered at Killara High School? and How do you encourage students to get involved?‘ The conversation was very interesting as this year has been challenging.

The primary school students had many experiences from learning from home. Each student that was talking, showed us slides of what they learnt. One primary school group said that they were learning to use all educational online resources like google slides, zoom and the internet. Others said they learnt to be resilient as that skill was vital in online learning.

Our group from the SJC then presented slides that showed what extracurricular activities are available at Killara High School. We showed the arts ensembles like drama, guitar, strings, dance and vocals. Sports were shown like volleyball and fun class games like bumpo or speed away. The library activities had tutoring, writers club and student librarians. The different leadership groups at KHS were explained. We then told them how we would encourage students to get involved such as merits and prizes.

Overall, this meeting was an excellent chance for these wonderful students to hear everything amazing about Killara High School. I would like to thank Ms Zolezzi and Ms Dixion for organising this event.
