A day at the zoo

On Wednesday the 9th of December Grade 4s enjoyed a great excursion to Werribee Zoo. Participating in an education workshop everyone had the opportunity to closely observe different animal skulls to determine whether they were predator, prey or both by thinking about where their eye sockets were located, and whether they were carnivore, herbivore or omnivore by looking at their teeth. It was also fun trying to work out what skull  the animal was from. The safari bus is also a highlight when this zoo is visited. We saw and learnt about zebras, giraffe, oryx, bison, rhinoceros, hippopotamus and various birds including ostrich. Our walk involved viewing the lions, wild dogs, emus, koala, vervet monkeys and the gorillas. It was wonderful to be out and about for the day, with many also enjoying the bus trip!
