Principal's Message

Wrapping up 2022

I wish to begin by thanking the Marangaroo Primary School community for welcoming me so warmly over the past two terms. It is hard to believe that I have only been here since the beginning of Term Three, having enjoyed such a rich experience already at Marangaroo and I look forward to remaining at Marangaroo for years to come.

I would like to congratulate Mr Kris Mihal and his partner Hayley, who welcomed a baby into the world last week - Violet. The family are all doing well and we wish them the best of luck as they navigate some sleepless nights ahead!

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending my first end of year concert and book awards at Marangaroo and it was a delight to see how much effort the students put into their performances, as well as to have the opportunity to reward so many students for their hard work over the year. Well done to all the teaching and support staff for their efforts with this also. I would like to sincerely thank the P&C for donating the books and for all the work they have done throughout the year - we are very lucky to have such an active P&C!

Yesterday we formally bid farewell to the Year Six graduating students of 2022. It was a lovely ceremony, organised by Mrs Andony and Mr Cutting, that celebrated the students' many successes over their years at Marangaroo. After the ceremony a morning tea was held for students and their special guests.  Then students went on to enjoy an afternoon of Laser Tag followed by pizza and ice creams to celebrate their success in style. Congratulations to those students who won subject awards, and to all the Year Six students for their commitment to learning throughout their primary years. We will miss you at Marangaroo but we hope you will come and visit us to let us know how you are going in the years to come.

As you are likely aware, all staff in schools are required by law to be vaccinated as of the beginning of the 2022 school year. This does not extend to parents, meaning there will be no change to student drop off and collection procedures next year, regardless of vaccination status. Parents are also able to attend school events (carnivals, assemblies, etc.) regardless of vaccination status. Having said that, parents acting as a volunteer more than once per week are required to provide evidence to the school of double-dose vaccination. If you are unsure whether this impacts you, please feel free to get in touch with me to clarify.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at Marangaroo. As I'm sure you're aware, we have some of the best staff here, with every conversation and action centred around what is best for the students. Thank you to our wonderful teachers, education assistants, librarian, chaplain and AIEO for all you do in the classrooms and beyond. Thank you to our cleaners and gardeners for all they do to keep the school looking beautiful. Thanks to the hard working front office team, who work tirelessly behind the scenes ensuring everything runs smoothly. Thanks to the wonderful leadership team, who are incredibly dedicated to ensuring each child reaches their full potential. I have very much appreciated your support since arriving at Marangaroo.

School Grant from Merredith Hammat MLA

A huge thankyou and acknowledgement also to Merredith Hammat MLA for supporting us this year with a $12,500 grant which enabled us to purchase two PCLOCS iPad Carrier Carts to safely store, sync and charge our student iPads and a Concept AV Newline Interactive Panel for use with our current iPads.  We have appreciated Merredith's support and presence throughout the year and look forward to continuing this relationship into 2022.

The long-awaited class lists will be posted today, on the outside of the reception window. Please feel free to come and take a look. The class lists will not be published on Dojo. Please be aware that these lists are always subject to change, as we often have late enrolments early in the year, which can impact class structures. If future changes impact your child, we will let you know. The class structures for next year are anticipated to be as follows:
