St John's Trivia Night

Our Christmas in July Trivia Night was a great success with 100 in attendance and a fun and festive night was had by all, bringing in $8.5k profit. We were overwhelmed by the generosity and support of our local and school family businesses. We had so many fantastic donations which we used in the Silent Auction, Raffle, Advent Lucky Dip and as door prizes and spot prizes throughout the night. And it was wonderful to see everyone embracing the Christmas theme coming dressed in festive jumpers, elf suits, flashing lights and everything in between. And those 80’s dance moves… wow! Well that’s a cue for a future event! The only regret of the night was that the Trivia Host stopped the Nut Bush before completion.

It was a whole school effort as each class prepared an incredible festive poster which we used to adorn the Coghlan centre, led by Miss Maio. Each one was so creative and colourful and such effort went into creating some wonderful pieces. Mrs Cosgrave led the students in creating some stunning artwork which we auctioned off in our Live Auction, all pieces fundraising a significant amount. Special thanks to Jenny and Maria in the office for all their support, collecting, printing, and general awesomeness. It was really appreciated.

Thanks to Trang for keeping on top of all the ticket sales and prompting to promote it more when needed. Thanks to Bill for being the money man on the night and the next day and for set-up help both on the day and prior, tag teaming with Gabby who also helped set up and pack down. Thanks to Tanya and Angela for donning Santa aprons and brewing up huge amounts of delicious mulled wine, which created a lovely festive ambiance and for all of their help with set-up and pack down. Thanks to Sarah Longmore and Kirsten for all their challenging work securing amazing donations, fielding questions and for theirs and Damian’s setup and packdown help. Thanks to Amy P for her creative flyer creation, set up help and management of thesquare and finance help on the night. Thanks to Alex and Lauren Godfrey for set-up help and all the time spent packing and ferrying stuff to the school. Thanks to Sarah and Stu who helped set up on the day, brought amazing Christmas decorations to the mix and served mulled wine on arrival. Thanks to Jules Tauali'I for all her time and effort making delicious brownies for every table. Thanks to Ben Plant for fulfilling Kirsten’s vision of creating a beautiful crackling fire which really set the tone. Thanks to Belinda for all her help with pack down and moving stuff off-site on the following day. Thanks to Larah for all her creative genius and artistic flair, knowing what would work and how to create it and for all the help wrapping and beautifying boxes and

silent auction items, and for creating all the beautiful centrepieces and input in every aspect of the evening and Michelle with her calm and organised demeanour, planning, troubleshooting, finalising silent auction items and collating it on the day, providing sound advice, and managing registrations on the night.

We were blown away by how everyone pitched in to get this event across the line and to get the venue all cleared up in record time. And lastly, thanks to everyone who supported the event through ticket sales, donations and participation. Without such a strong and engaged community, events such as this would not be possible.
