Subject Selections for 2024

Please make sure you are working through your subject selections for 2024. It is important to hand these in by the due date 14th August, so you get the subjects you want and not just what is left over. Please see Mr. Masters if you need help with your online submission or when choosing your subjects or Ms McPherson for queries around VET.

Year 10 into 11 VCE and Vocational Major House/SEALP Leader Subject Selection Conferences

These conferences are for House/SEALP Leaders to discuss with the parents and students the subject selections for 2024. They will be held from 12pm to 7pm on Tuesday 8th August in the PAC. These conferences are designed to consolidate the student’s selections, not be the start of conversations. Students should have been researching, having conversations and choosing subjects over the past 2 weeks and this interview is to ensure they are making the correct choices for their future subject plans. No year 10’s or 9A SEALP will be required at school on that day, only for their scheduled interview. However, if a student is doing a Yr. 11 accelerated class/es, then they will need to come in for those classes and schedule their conference not at the same time.Parents can book a time through Compass for that day. The HL/SEALP Leader will go over the subject selections for 2024 and the expectations for VCE or Vocational Major. If you are unavailable on the 8th, then you will need to contact your child's House/SEALP Leader to make alternate arrangements.

VTAC – Year 12’s are currently working through the VTAC application process for University, TAFE and private institutions for 2024. Please make an appointment with Mr. Masters if you need help with this process. It might also be worthwhile to book in an ATAR prediction meeting with Ms. Scannell to help with your course selections.

Work Experience – Semester 2 is a great time for Yr 10 students to do some work experience. This could be in a trade or in a profession that you want to find out more about. Pick up some work experience forms from the Careers room if you are interested.

VET – Year 10 Gordon applications open on the 15th August and VET forms to be handed into the Careers Room as soon as they are filled in.

The Gordon Open Day is on this this weekend, the 6th of August at the City Campus. Visit https://www.thegordon.edu.au/openday to register you interest.
