Year 12 Celebration Day

By Ivan Seskis
Congratulations to the Year 12 students. Their final festivities turned out to be a three day affair. Monday night saw students ‘decorate ‘ the school as VCE staff cooked them up a lovely BBQ to sustain them in their endeavours. Students used a variety of materials, streamers, glad wrap, glitter, banners, cups of water, cars completely re-spray painted, balloons, lawn mowers and huge printed pictures to name a few.
Tuesday morning saw Year 12 students and teachers dressed up in amazing costumes. A lovely cooked breakfast with a trip down memory lane was a great way to start the day. Cars were backed up out of the school gate as Year 12s interacted with parents and students as they were being dropped off to school. Some parents were handed out tickets for being parents. Their punishment was to let their children stay up an extra hour at night. Primary school students loved seeing some of their heroes in the flesh. The 'Hulk' was a big hit, as well as anyone dressed up as a character from the movie, Frozen. Disney princesses were sought after by any and all Prep to Year 3 girls.
The final assembly was a grand event. The entire school - staff, students and many parents were entertained with a variety show. Year 12 students were individually introduced and walked in to their own theme music. The Year 7 and Vice Captains speeches were inspiring and humorous. Nick ‘Fury’ Crawley was, as always, entertaining and inspiring. A special visit from ‘The Just Us’ crew saw the teacher boy band receive thunderous applause – even if it was for them to get off the stage! Not really. Multimedia presentations from pictures and dancing English classes to the student teacher 'rap', brought smiles to everyone. The Principal, Andy Callow, gave some final words and asked the entire school to stand next to a Year 12 student to pray for them. A highlight for all students. An avenue of honour saw the whole school applaud and wish the students well. A teacher student volley ball game with a flash mob dance off was a lovely way to finish up what has been a big year for students.
A big thank you to all involved up front and behind the scenes to make the Year 12’s final day a fun filled and amazing experience.
