Year 5/6 News

Science Incursion

On Friday 14th July, all of the Year 5/6s participated in a Science Incursion teaching us about light, held in the hall. We completed seven activities that showed us how light moves, such as using see-through objects to bend the lights across each other, putting special glasses on that makes you see a rainbow everywhere, using a mirror to decode our own written DaVinci code, and spinning all bright colours really fast to make white. All the activities were really interesting and super fun to do. We all had a great time in this excursion.

Life Ed Program

On Wednesday 19th of July, we had a Life Education session with a woman named Sharon, and Harold the Healthy Giraffe. The 5/6s learned about the dangers of smoking and vaping, and what we can do to help and educate others. We learned how the advertising for cigarettes and smoking changed throughout the decades and how it was once advertised to be healthy and for people to start smoking. It then slowly became shameful for people to be buying a pack of cigarettes with a lot more information to back up how harmful it is to your body. In the end, we learned a lot and had a lot of fun!
