This week we have been practising how to synthesise. We combine our ideas, thoughts, and opinions to understand the text as a whole.
VOCABULARY
Synthesise: A process of pulling together background knowledge, newly learned ideas, connections, inferences and summaries into a complete and original understanding of the text.
Summarising: Recalling the main points or ideas.
Determining importance: Determine the difference between important and interesting events.

Practise synthesising:
Prediction + What we know = synthesis.
Use the following guiding questions to assist with synthesising;
Before reading- What do you think this text will be about? What might happen?
During reading- Was your prediction correct? Has your thinking changed? How?
After reading- How did your thoughts change when reading? What do you think now?
