Principal's Message

Principal Report

It is hard to believe there are only 2 weeks to go until our Year 5 and 6 students head off to their adventure Camp at Kangaroobie in Princetown, Victoria. This 4 day camp is a huge learning opportunity for the students, developing organisational, social and creative thinking skills whilst cooperating and learning in a stunning camp environment! Preparations and communications regarding the event have been circulating since early last term. I am sure the students, staff and volunteers attending cannot wait for the adventure to begin!

Attendance

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with  students coming to school each and every day. This term, school leadership continue their work to ensure students across the school enhance the positive attendance routines developed at home and school.

We will be monitoring each student’s attendance closely and promoting high levels of attendance in every class. We thank all of our parents who support the school by ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn.

These good habits developed now by our youngest students will support great habits in the future.

Working Bee Sunday 13th August 9am-12pm followed by BBQ

We have a range of tasks that parents/carers/volunteers can help us with for our next working bee. There is quite a bit to do in our ‘Frog Bog’ area, with plants to plant and some mulch to spread around. Other tasks include:

  • Spreading soft fall under playground areas
  • Trimming hedges
  • Clearing storage areas
  • Sorting & labelling costumes
  • Cobweb removal
  • Gutter clearing

And so much more! We would love to see a few new faces at our next Working Bee- please look out for the notice coming home this week!

National Tree Day this Friday 28th July

All classes will spend some time doing some tree/shrub/ garden planting on Friday as part of our approach to the National Tree Day. We have a number of new plants being planted across the school. Parents/Carers are welcome to contact class teachers via Dojo to see if there is an opportunity to participate in class activities on the day.

Staffing

We are excited to be able to announce the Mrs Natalie Smith (ARPS teacher currently on Family Leave) will be returning to Albany Rise Primary School to take up the position of Visual Art teacher for the remainder of 2023. Natalie is an experienced teacher in all year levels and is excited about the opportunity to further build the Art program for students during Term 3 and 4 this year.

We are still seeking a Music teacher (2 days per week) for our Music specialist program and to support Choir and Whole School Musical production. Our Musical team is currently working diligently on all aspects of the production, and are valuing the support of parents and community members as we commence rehearsals through STOMP dancing sessions and cast script practises. I will continue to keep all informed regarding the outcome of Music teacher position.
