We gathered together on Wednesday 5 May, to focus and reflect upon the lives of Blessed Edmund Rice, whose Feast Day falls on this date, and Venerable Nano Nagle, both Founders of the Orders whose charisms we strive to embody at Kildare Catholic College. Our Mass was a time to celebrate the wealth of selflessness that they possessed and passed on to those they came into contact with. We celebrate their lives, Spiritualities and the Charisms of the Christian Brothers and the Presentation Sisters. We give thanks for their vision and mission, the raising up of the poor and the oppressed to be pillars of Christ’s presence in the world, systems of education and networks of schools where the student is at the heart of the process and Gospel values permeate the entire College community.

It was delightful to have Sisters Bernadette Pattison, Judith Baz, Barbara Webber, Colleen Moloney, Frances Walsh, Audre Pigram, Margaret Walsh and Carmel Wallis from the Wagga Wagga Presentation Sisters present with us.

Thank you to those who helped animate our Mass. These people included the Year 12 SRC Leaders; Jenjarla Hookey, Rohan Cummins and Riley Knight who acknowledged country; Eze Emberi, Jackson Casley, Connor Gregurke, Will Brereton, Mischa Case, Poppy Gray and Charlotte Fox, who lead the music and singing with Ms Hale and Mr Thompson’s direction.

The following staff and students were also presented with certificates, as they have completed the Extraordinary Minister of Communion training with Fr Paddy: Mrs Catherine Banks, Miss Clementine Patterson, Ms Angela Keulan and Mrs Larissa Byrne, Nicholas Heffernan, Emily Nightingale, Lily Clark, Jacinta Byrne, Carter Cummins and Matthew Anderson.

Congratulations to you all and thank you Fr Paddy for your support and encouragement.

The Year 12 SRC stepped up again at lunchtime to cook and serve the free sausage sizzle to the College Community. Thank you Mrs Potts and Mr Ward for your organisation and help as well. Kildare Day is a great way to celebrate our past, our present and our future.
