Principal Message

As we get closer to the middle of term it seems that this has been an incredibly full month of school with Year 8 Camp, Year 12 Retreat, Parent Teacher evenings, AFL and Netball competitions, Cross Country, preparation for the Phoenix Rising Showcase, along with the five great lessons of quality learning each day staff are providing. Our staff have been magnificent in their generosity and support and on your behalf I thank them for the gift they are to the life of our community.

This week we farewelled Mrs Bobbie-Jo Mitchell as Finance Manager of the College, who feels after 9½ years in this role she needs to make a change. Staff farewelled her with a lovely morning tea on Thursday this week and I thanked her for the work we have done together and also on behalf of those who came before me. Ms Alison Sutton chronicled in eloquent detail what she has meant to everyone in this place, at Kildare and in the Boarding House. She will be missed!

The College will enter into a recruitment process with CEDWW for the appointment of a Business Manager in due course. In the meantime, can I please ask for patience with our finance team who are doing a wonderful job keeping on top of things and learning new things at the same time.

As you already know from communications sent to you through Compass we have been dealing with the impact of the tragic passing of a Year 7 student in the broader Wagga Wagga community. Can I please ask you again to ensure you have processed these letters with your son or daughter. If you wish to discuss further, please contact one of the Wellbeing and Academic Care team at the College. Please keep in your prayers all who may be impacted by what has occurred this week.

Year 7 and 9 have been through their NAPLAN testing this week. As I reminded the students, this data is important to us for one reason only, as a snapshot in time of their progress in Literacy and Numeracy, that we can use to better serve their learning needs. I’d like to congratulate them for the way they have approached the exams and thank profusely Mrs Jacqui Galvin and Ms Jacinta Murphy who have been overseeing the testing process. We look forward to celebrating the growth of our students in time also.
