Sports Update

LEGENDS OF LEAGUE

Last Friday Stage 3 students had the opportunity to participate in the NRL Legends Gala Day. We were able to field one boys tackle team and two girls league tag teams. It was a wonderful day with all children showing great sportsmanship, excellent participation and teamwork and wonderful enthusiasm.

All teams played several games against Glen Innes Public School and came away from the day with some wins, draws and losses.

The NRL kindly donated footballs that were awarded to one player from each team for sportsmanship and being encouraging of others. Congratulations to Connor Grob, Isobel Tremain and Bronte Ellis on receiving these footballs.

Thank you to:

The NRL for their efforts in organising this opportunity for our students.

To the staff and students from Glen Innes Public School for helping make it such a great day.

To the parents who were able to attend and cheer the children on.

To Mrs Gannon and Ms Dance for managing the two league tag teams.

Most importantly a BIG thank you to the children who participated, it was a pleasure to be with you on the day.

Mrs Little 🙂

POLDING RUGBY LEAGUE & FOOTBALL TRIALS

Last Friday Lloyd Newbury, Patrick Wright, Ethan Graham, Bobby Chard (11 Years Rugby League) and Mary Arandale (Girls Soccer) participated in the Polding Trials at Bathurst. Everyone played their best on the day and from all accounts it was a fabulous experience. Congratulations to Lloyd for making the possibles and probables, which were the top 26 players elected from 90 children.

CROSS COUNTRY

With perfect weather, we watched all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 give their best out on the cross country course yesterday. Thank you especially to the amazingly, ever reliable large group of parents who assisted out on the course and also with the Infants tabloid activities. Thank you children for your outstanding participation and behaviour. Thank you staff for your assistance and support to make the day a success. We are so fortunate at St Joseph’s, Glen Innes to have such wonderful parents, children and staff.

Students who have qualified for the Armidale Diocesan Cross Country have received a note today. This carnival will be held in Barraba on Friday 7th May.
