From the Principal's Desk

With Mr Scott Taprell

What a great term! I have thoroughly enjoyed this term filling in while Mrs Barrett was working at CRTH. It has given me the opportunity to spend more time with Primary students and staff and to gain some insight into “the other half” of our school. Can I just say I have loved visiting Primary, being part of the weekly assemblies and seeing the fantastic performances, all of which has highlighted what a fantastic school I am part of. Harmony day capped all of this off for me with each class putting on a performance.

This week will see the opening of the Wellbeing Hub. The Wellbeing Hub is an initiative developed by Molong Central School to enhance the wellbeing of students to ensure they are holistically supported throughout their education. This initiative aligns with the Department of Education’s Wellbeing Framework for schools, which is the commitment that public schools support students to connect, succeed and thrive at each stage of their development and learning. The Wellbeing Hub thereby ensures that every student at Molong Central School is known, valued and cared for.

The Wellbeing Hub is home to our School Counsellor, Student Support Officer (SSO), Aboriginal Education Officers (AEO) and the MCS Wellbeing team. The Wellbeing Hub provides free information and confidential support services to our students and their parents/carers. The wellbeing staff work to support students, parents and carers around everyday topics such as family, friends and school or simply feeling ‘down,' to more serious issues, such as, mental health, bullying, nutritional health, smoking, alcohol and other drug use, homelessness, child abuse and suicide. If you would like more information about these services please call the school to arrange contact.

Coming up, we have on Thursday Term 2 Week 1, the home leg of the Rural Cup on Thursday. Preparations are being made to take on Canowindra and after our win against Oberon our teams are excited about the opportunity of being overall winners. Hopefully, the weather will be perfect and we can enjoy a day of friendly competition. Each year I am amazed at how many events our students are involved in. We certainly are not short on our share of sporting students. I am proud of their efforts and the work of the staff who take on coaching and support roles. Go Molong!!!
