From the Principal

Week 1 Term 2 2021

Welcome to the start of Term 2

How different a year can be!! This time last year we were commencing remote learning for the first time.  Isn't it great that a sense of normality has been restored.

This week we welcome the Moscatelli, Stamoulis and Sideras families to St Bede's. We hope your transition to St Bede's has been smooth and that you enjoy your time with us.

Yr 5/6 Camp

Next week the  Yr.5/6 students will be attending  the YMCA camp at Mt Evelyn. Hopefully the weather is good!!!!!!. The forecast is for three sunny days. The children will be leaving on the Wednesday morning so please be aware that parking may be limited on the Marwal Ave side of the school.  The campers will return before  the scheduled pick up time on the Friday so there should be no parking issues that afternoon.  We hope everyone has  a great time.

Leave

Rita Fitzgerald

Next week is Rita's last week before she commences her maternity leave.  We can't wait to for the exciting news in approximately 6 weeks!!!!!!  We wish her and her husband all the best. Cara Barrett will replace Rita during  this time.

Chris Comand is currently on Leave.  Marianne will be in the office area on a  Monday Tuesday and Friday and Larissa or myself will be in there  on the other days to help with any queries.

Education Board

We are still looking for one more member for our Education Board. If you are interested please email me. The Education Board works together with St Bridget's and St Anne's boards to address Education matters across the parish, as well as each individual school.

Cross Country

Our annual school cross country carnival will be held this coming Monday afternoon. Children are to wear their house colours. Please refer to the email sent to parents by Richard Price, ( information is also included in the cross country section of this newsletter). If you can assist with walking the students to this event please let your classroom teacher know.

Mother's Day Dinner

A remind that  the RSVP for the Mother's Day dinner has been extended to Monday. Please see the flyer  under P and F news for further information.  It promises to be a great evening.

Tuckshop

Just a reminder that tuckshop resumes this week. All orders were due at 1.00pm today.

SunSmart

Our school SunSmart policy requires our students to wear their hats until the end of April. This coincides with our change over to full winter uniform at the commencement of week 3

Congratulations

Congratulations to  Liam and Oliver who represented the  Balwyn Greythorn Jets during half time of the Melbourne vs Hawthorn game on the weekend. I hope you enjoyed the opportunity to play on the MCG.

School Commencing time

Thank you to our community for ensuring our students are at school ready to commence learning at 8.45am. There has definitely been an improvement in the first 4 days of this term. Please ensure this continues throughout the whole term.

Parking/road safety

Just a reminder to parents that the council parking inspectors check regularly the behaviour of drivers near school crossings including Marwal Avenue.   Please ensure for the safety of everyone that;

  • You cross  at the crossing (this sets and example for the students)
  • You park in the car park across the road or in the allocated street parking areas (in both Marwal Ave and Severn St)
  • Be patient

Thank you for ensuring the safety of all the members of our school community

Have a great week

Brian
