Principals Message

Week 3 Term 1

The term is well underway and I have really enjoyed watching our children settle into their new classes. Many of the nervous tummies and worries have gone as children have become more adjusted to their new surroundings.  With our current enrollments, we are increasing to 20 classes.  It really is pleasing to see so many parents choosing Brooke Avenue PS for their child.  We all understand the faith you have placed in us and we will endeavour to give each child the best education possible.

I really feel that this year our parents have made a concerted effort to allow children the time to develop their own positive relationships without intervening.  Our children will find their way and develop stronger social skills as a result.  We greatly appreciate your support.

The partnership between home and school is very important.  As always, our school prides itself on respectful relationships. Please feel free to come and see our teachers or myself if you have any concerns.

Our Gates

At the commencement of each year, our new Kindergarten students are acclimatising to 'Big School', which includes following instructions and staying within their classroom.  To ensure all children are safe, we will be closing our gates throughout the day.  We still want our parents to continue being actively involved in our school.  Please do not see the gates being closed as a message not to visit. It is just for our children's safety.

New Demountable

Our new demountable is now installed and 1X moved in this week. I have been impressed by our students' abilities to continue with their studies in the library whilst they were awaiting their new classroom.

Air Conditioning

This week we have engaged a company to audit the schools' electrical network and assess our ability to service the ever-increasing need for electricity.  This will assist our plan for air conditioning throughout the school.  This is a long-term project and needs to be planned and prepared appropriately.  I will share with you more news as the plan progresses and when more work commences. We currently have air conditioners in all demountables, the library and support classes.

Canteen

Our canteen is under new management and will be run by Kinfolk Student Cafes.  The new menu is now available in our newsletter and on our website and Facebook.  Take the time to have a look.

New Staff

Another special welcome to all our new staff.  We are excited to welcome you to the team and look forward to working with you for the benefit of all our students, as well as supporting you in whatever phase of your career you are in.

We welcome - Emily Hurst, Jane O'Donnell, Bridget Scott, Kiara Xerri, Tamara Maher and Gabrielle Wellfare.

Once again, welcome back. I hope to see as many parents as possible within our school so that students can witness the partnership we are strengthening between home and school.
