My Reflection
This year has been a very interesting year full of change, growth and uncomfortable feelings. I believe that to be a very good thing!! As I think about this year and everything we have gone through as a school I believe we have come out of it stronger, more resilient and more united. We have such as an amazingly dedicated staff, one that I feel very fortunate to work with.
I have learned so much about myself, this year, more than any year in my career as an educator (aside from my 1st year as a teacher!) I have learned that I have so much more growth to do in many areas of leadership and this year truly helped me see what those areas are. I’m not going to lie, there were days, before Marnie came on board, when I felt like the world was crashing down on me (not to be too dramatic) but the following day I was so grateful to have an amazing team: Rachel, Mario, Juan, Hugo, Esmi, Jorge, Erika, only to name a few. I appreciate everyone’s grace and words of support during those challenging months!
Now, as this year comes to an end and into the summer I will be reflecting on how I can be a better leader. One who is more focused on equity in all aspects of education and our world outside of Firestone. One who is more focused on the whole child and ensuring we are giving students what they need and doing my best to find out what those things may be.
As we wrap up the year in these last few days, keep in mind how much you have grown and how much you have learned about yourself. Each and every one of you have made a positive difference in a young person’s life! That is something to be very proud of!!
