Principal's Corner

Thank you, AFA!

I cannot even begin to tell you what an incredible honor it has been to start the journey as your Principal for the past month and a half. I have learned so much from each and every one of you, and I feel proud to call Firestone home every time I step foot on campus. It is such a special place.

I was blown away this past week by all the ways that we supported and honored our students and their families. We honored our 5th graders at Promotion, and then we engaged in some friendly competition with them at the Staff vs. Student kickball game. We watched our 4th graders portray the story of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad in their Spirit Series play, and we also watched our 4th and 5th graders sing and dance in their choir performance. We saw all of our students shine during their Spring Performances, and we honored so many of them at our awards ceremonies. Our 1st graders took a field trip to the Science Center, and our ASP students participated in a shark dissection. Our TK and K students built airplanes and ate donuts with their dads, and students from TK-5 showed up in droves to participate in the Azalea fun run. Team, we did it all. YOU did it all. And it was clear how much it all meant to our students and families.

Thank you for creating such a warm, inclusive community here at Firestone. Thank you for reminding our students that school is a place that supports and celebrates them. Thank you for inviting our families to be a part of everything that we do. And thank you for welcoming me onto this special team. I cannot wait to see all of the incredible things that we accomplish together over the next several years.
