Career & VET Report
October 2020
VCE Students have completed their University applications for 2021 and will be informed in January of successful selections. ATAR results will be released on December 30 and it is then that students will have the opportunity to change preferences or add additional courses.
For those intending not to take a GAP year in 2021 it has been suggested that they set up a MyGov account on line. If this becomes too difficult, as it sometimes can be I had suggested some time ago that students go to Centrelink in Horsham and get assistance with applications. There are a number of financial incentives available for students who meet the criteria, including a relocation scholarship and Living Away from Home allowance.
Simmons Centrelink Advisory Service is based in Horsham and for a small fee have assisted numbers of students in gaining access to benefits from the Australian Government. They can be contacted on 0409 383 650 and have a Facebook page.
All current VET students will be attending their respective courses for most of Term 4 and on a weekly basis. All Providers have done an enormous amount of work to ensure students will get through their VET studies in 2020. It is essential that students attend all sessions in order to pass, and for second years to get that all important qualification.
All VET first year courses will continue into second year in 2021 and there may be a possibility of new enrolments for First year being accepted next week. I will discuss this with all students when they return to face to face learning on Monday.
