Sponsor a child

Sponsor a Child - Grade 6 2019

Earlier this year, the Grade 6 students held a student Parliament. This was where each class brought forward 2 - 4 ideas they would like to act upon. Finally four ideas were voted on and four action teams were chosen to come to life with the help of our school leaders.

We are one of the action teams that were voted in from student parliament, the Sponsor Child action team. At Clifton Hill PS we are very lucky to have the resources that help us get an education which challenges us and helps us learn and develop new ideas. However, we know some children in Australia who do not have the same resources. Our team’s goal is to begin sponsoring an Australian child through the Smith Family Foundation by the end of this year or early next year.

The Smith Family is an organisation that supplies disadvantaged children in Australia with formal tutoring, uniforms, textbooks and the essential supplies needed to have a proper education, plus life changing learning support so they can fit in at school and catch up with their peers. Sometime in the next week we will be bringing around a donation jar for each class to put in spare change which can be used to help sponsor a child.

To be able to effectively sponsor a child, we need to raise $52 per month. We feel that this is achievable and sustainable. It means each class has to raise only $2 per month as a whole for us to keep on sponsoring a child. Since it only takes $2 per month for each class to sponsor a child as a school we hope to sponsor more than one child. The Smith Family is a trusted, well managed charity that has changed one million children’s lives for the better, and our school can help them in their campaigns for a very small price.
